Two Ways to Experience Overnight Rafting Near Boise Idaho

The 2 Day/2 Night package gives you two arrival options — choose the one that fits your schedule best.

Option 1 — Raft First, Camp After

Arrive at PRC headquarters in Lowman at 9:45am. After gearing up and a briefing from your guides, you follow PRC down to camp — approximately 5 miles from headquarters — and park your vehicles about 350 feet above camp. A PRC vehicle then shuttles you upriver to the Kirkham put-in.

Day one on the Kirkham Hot Springs section — Class II/III rapids through crystal clear waters, a soak at Kirkham Hot Springs, a jump rock, wildlife sightings, and a riverside lunch. Float directly into Camp Woopie for your first night. Day two the rafts push off from camp directly onto the South Fork Payette Canyon — 25 Class III/IV rapids, Pine Flats Hot Springs, and Big Falls portage. Return to Camp Woopie for your second night. Day three enjoy breakfast and head back to Boise, McCall, Stanley, or Sun Valley.

Option 2 — Camp First, Raft After

Arrive at PRC headquarters in Lowman at 5:00pm. Follow PRC down to camp just in time for appetizers and your first night at Camp Woopie. Day one raft the Kirkham Hot Springs section and return to camp for your second night. Day two raft the South Fork Payette Canyon and head back home after the trip.

Two Nights at Camp Woopie

Camp Woopie sits on a private sandy beach on land leased from the U.S. Forest Service, right at the edge of the South Fork Payette River, tucked between tall pines and granite walls deep in the Boise National Forest. There are no roads, no outside crowds — just Payette River Company guests, your guides, and one of the most beautiful stretches of river in Idaho.

Guests who choose overnight rafting near Boise Idaho consistently describe Camp Woopie as the highlight of the trip. Two nights here means two evenings of bocce ball, horseshoes, and slackline on the beach — two nights of farm-fresh dinners cooked by your guides — and two mornings waking up to the sound of the South Fork Payette running past your tent.

Dinner is a real farm-to-table riverside sit-down meal — burgers from Ginger’s family farm in North Idaho, organic seasonal vegetables from the PRC garden, PRC’s famous potatoes, and the legendary Camp Woopie dutch oven brownies by the fire. Beer and non-alcoholic drinks are available throughout the evening — and feel free to bring your own beverages if you have something particular you enjoy. On evenings when the guide knows how to play, a guitar comes out by the fire.

Breakfast starts at 8:00am with hot beverages, fruit and juice, followed by a hot breakfast at 9:00am.

“My 20 year old son and I spent 2 nights and 2 days with Payette River Company. The camping — or glamping as my son called it — was first class. It’s primitive for sure but the staff do everything they can for you. The experience provided a lifetime memory for my son and I.” — TripAdvisor Reviewer

Good to Know Before You Book

Overnight rafting near Boise Idaho on the 2 Day/2 Night package requires a minimum age of 12 — the Canyon section on day two requires it.

The Canyon section is remote and rescue due to injury can be difficult. This trip requires a reasonable level of physical fitness — guests need to be comfortable walking on uneven, slippery ground for the Big Falls portage and the ramp at the takeout. Your guides will be with you every step of the way.

All camping gear is provided — tents, sleeping pads, and pillows. Sleeping bags available to rent for $15 upon request. Feel free to bring your own beverages if you have something particular you enjoy.
